I didn’t write any tasting notes down for this one because I was enjoying it so much. Only a bit oxidized with very nice brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruit flavors. Alcohol well hidden. This was probably the best barleywine I’ve had, second only to Midnight Sun M. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2008 750ml bottle (2001 vintage) thanks to Todd! poured a solid dark caramel brown with a thinnish slightly off-white head..... nose made up of aged sweet caramel malt, dark fruit, and some maple. malts have faded and was difficult to detect the fact that it was aged in a cab-franc bottle. somewhat vinous but again, hardly noticeable..... smooth ccaramael malt flavors that were slightly oxidized with some subtle light sourness. mouthfeel was creamy and full and had low carbonation with worked well for it..... pretty good but a little past its prime.
