Pint - Fish Brewery - Olympia, WA
Aroma – Sweet and deep alt and hops aroma.
Appearance – Deep reddish amber color, tiny very little head and clear.
Flavor – This had a light flavor I was hoping this wuld really stand out and be a bigger beer. The malt and hops where weak.
Palate – Light Mouthfeel for a beer that should have been dripping with flavor.
Overall – There was something missing like this beer sat out too long and just got old.

Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel". Pours carmel orange with a white beige and soapy head. Aroma is citrus, yeast, old biscuit malts and faded hops. Toffee caramel, citrus, pine and earthy notes. Alcohol is present. Meh.

12 oz. bottle, sampled in a tulip glass. Has a notched month "spawned on" date (March) along the left side of label and because I purchased this at the Madison, Wisconsin Woodman’s last fall, I’m going to assume this is a 2006 vintage. Poured a cloudy reddish brown hued orange with a tight off-white head, dissipates quickly into a thin bubbly lacing, very light amount of sticking. Opening smells of musty banana bread, clove and orange pulp. The alcohol is an estery ethanol and the malts are pale malt sweet. There is also a mild spiciness. A nice mouthfeel, creamy medium body that is buoyed by the airy, no fizzy, carbonation. I am wondering if I should have tried this right after I purchased it last fall because it has that blandness of an ale past it’s prime. The alcohol is in the forefront with a sweet banana orange and stale spice taste, provides a low grade warmth in the palate. Traces of ethanol too. The malts keeps things on the sweet side and there is a spicy hoppiness that gets washed out at the end. I don’t care much for the finish of this tripel, grainy with an unpleasant fruity alcohol. I imagine this is a lot better when fresh, it doesn’t seem to be aging that well.

Bottle. Sweet, fruity and malty aroma with some candi sugar and a hint of spice. Pours amber with a quickly disappearing off-white head. Sweet malt, dry yeast and a hint of sourness on the palate. Medium bodied. Fairly creamy. Not bad but forgettable.

Bottle. Orange amber with a low off-white head. Nice estery aroma with fruit, earthy yeast and a bit of sweetness. Sweet, malty, fruity flavor. Some yeast in background. Refreshing, but too sweet to be very good. A bit of hops present. LIngering sweetness and fruit (peach/appricot). Medium body.
