Commercial Description:
"This classic Belgian Triple was aged in oak wine barrels for two months and then bottle conditioned. Monkfish is the color of nectar, medium bodied, with a sweet malt flavor and subtle hop aroma. Phil says it's good."

Poured a light orange with light frothy head. Light sweet aroma. Light fruitiness and malt on the palate. Hint of oak. Nice light body.

Vintage 2003. Hazy golden yellow, some floaties but that isn’t off-putting. Aromas are interesting, citrus, vanilla, wood, floral. There is a sour note in the flavor, with a late sweet arrival after the tannic notes that Lumpy talked about. Frothy, mild palate, smooth with some alcohol stinging at times.

2001 vintage, 750 ml. Cloudy light amber color with foamy head. Still fresh fruitty aromas of apple, grapes, candy sugar and honey. Taste is sweet and doughy. Complex flavors of malt, peach, oak, apricot and light citrus. Dank and delicious.

Clear amber with a minimal off-white head. Big sweet yeasty alcoholic nose. Flavor is sweet and alcohlic with some floral spiciness towards the end. Medium bodied. The finish is a bit harsh.

2003 Bottle: Reddish amber hue with fading white head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of orange and lemon zest, toasted malts, buttery bread, floral and lightly piney hops, peppery, barnyard yeast esters, and noticeable alcoholic phenols. The taste starts silky sweet with a spicy kick of clove and cardamom. Got some citric and ripen fruits in midsection tasing. The finish is biting with a moderate alcohol burn. Lingering spice and bitters. The feel is disappointing, just has no depth, dry and woody. Okay I guess, wanted more. Thanks to Kevin for the trade a few months ago.
