Commercial Description:
This is a black, medium-bodied, yet robust brew with a rich chocolate flavor and dry finish. The predominate flavor characteristic, that of smooth, dark, bittersweet cocoa, lingers on the palate from first pint to last. This is a hearty brew of seven varieties of malt, including Pale, Carastan, Crystal, Brown, Black, Munich, and an especially generous portion of Chocolate malt. Mudshark Porter gains its bitterness from Columbus hops, and its gentle hop flavor from a late addition of Willamette hops in the kettle.

Tap @ Taphouse, Seattle. Dark color, thick brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolat, with coffee dominating. Also soft mocha and coffee in taste. Nice soft, but still strong taste. Good porter.

On tap at Fritz European Fry House in Bremerton, Washington. Mudshark was delivered to me dark and enticing. It wore a thin light brown cap. It smelled of dark chocolate, roasting coals, and wet wood bark. The flavor followed with more of the same—chocolate so dark that it was mostly bitter, with little sweetness; roasted malts; wet wood bark; whispers of pear; and a touch of alcohol. It was solid and firm in the mouth. Mudshark went well with deep fried fish and Belgian fries. The combined elements of the meal were a perfect respite from the Pacific Northwest late spring/early summer rain and cold.

on tap at the toad house. came to me black with no head, no lacing. smell of cocoa, coffee, some roastiness to it. taste was of chocolate, espresso, lively carbonation, touch of vanilla. downgraded on appearance because of the way it was served to me, i will have to re-rate it once i can get in in a bottle.

On tap at the Maiden in the Myst in Portland, Oregon--Poured a deep dark, opaque black-brown body with little to no head. Thick syrupy rich body. Nose of chocolate malts and creamy vanilla. Great chocolate flavor. Rich with a great silky, thick texture.
