Characterful roasted malt flavors and lingering aftertaste that beckons more. SuzyGreenberg (1395), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Smells bad. Taste is sweet, thin and chocolaty, but not in any way that’s enjoyable. One of the few disappointments here at the new Taphouse in Seattle. after4ever (2794), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 30, 2007 Draft at the Issaquah (Rogue) Brewhouse. My 200th Washington beer. Cool! Pours deep, nearly opaque black, with just some flotsam and jetsam floating around for a head. Very restrained nose, almost pointlessly so--just a slight whiff of chocolate and roast. Big grainy body for a porter, with active carb and roasty sweet assertive flavors. Rich, satisfying mid-palate and a roasty, faintly resinous finish that sticks to your ribs a bit. I can’t remember if it’s quite this good in bottles, but this is a dandy draft beer.
