Nov 13, 2007 on tap&12oz bottle-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/anise, soapy? Taste is dark malt-chocolate/anise, secondary hops bite. Medium/full body. OK/mild carbonation. Nice.

Nov 10, 2007 (Draught) Sampled at Duck Island Saloon in Seattle, WA, on October 20, 2007. Foamy almond-coloured head with an opaque body. Nose of creamy coffee. Flavour is mildly chocolate with a buttery finish. Good.

Aug 20, 2007 A very nice, chocolatey, velvety porter with a soft mouthfeel. Tantalizing head. Characterful roasted malt flavors and lingering aftertaste that beckons more.

Jul 30, 2007 Draft at the Issaquah (Rogue) Brewhouse. My 200th Washington beer. Cool! Pours deep, nearly opaque black, with just some flotsam and jetsam floating around for a head. Very restrained nose, almost pointlessly so--just a slight whiff of chocolate and roast. Big grainy body for a porter, with active carb and roasty sweet assertive flavors. Rich, satisfying mid-palate and a roasty, faintly resinous finish that sticks to your ribs a bit. I can’t remember if it’s quite this good in bottles, but this is a dandy draft beer.
