Commercial Description:
This is a black, medium-bodied, yet robust brew with a rich chocolate flavor and dry finish. The predominate flavor characteristic, that of smooth, dark, bittersweet cocoa, lingers on the palate from first pint to last. This is a hearty brew of seven varieties of malt, including Pale, Carastan, Crystal, Brown, Black, Munich, and an especially generous portion of Chocolate malt. Mudshark Porter gains its bitterness from Columbus hops, and its gentle hop flavor from a late addition of Willamette hops in the kettle.

Dark brown colour, medium head. Deeply roasted malts and some chocalte in the nose. Nice mellow roasted malt flavor, very smooth. Finish is smooth as well with a slight bitterness and some toasted malts. Well balanced.

On tap this brew pours dark brown, glowing red at the edges, with a medium light tan head. Dark and roasty chocolate in the aroma, hinting at a sweet and burnt taste. Taste has much less roast than originally thought. Chocolate and cocoa start of the flavor finishing with a light bitterness and a peanutbutter hint in the finish.

(Draft: Humpy’s Ale House in Anchorage, AK) Dark roasted, moderately bitter, and minimally sweet porter; It’s fairly standard, but competently made; Standard dark roasted aromas typically present in porters; Full bodied and fairly dry on the palate; Nearly black and opaque; Tan head is smallish and fades to a thin rim quickly

Black, brown edging with tan head & good sticky retentive lacing. The aroma is sweet with lots of char & roast, total milk chocolate smell going on too. It’s like a Yoohoo with a shot of espresso and a shot of amaretto. Not too muck black patent thank god.

Has the typical chocolate/coffee notes, but the body is too light for me. Good try though from a great brewery.

Had on tap at the Fishbowl Pub. Found this to be a tad better than their Bull's Tooth Porter I had earlier in the week (to be added soon). Very smooth Porter to sum it up. Nice mocha colored head sitting on top of a jet black pour. Bittersweet chocolate aroma. Very smooth flavor for a porter. Goes down extremely well.

Tap:Good chocolate malt nose. Creamy roasted malt flavor with burnt aftertaste, just the right amount of hops.
