Commercial Description:
Old Woody has been brewed in the style of English Old Ales. We have aged this beer in oak wine casks for six months before bottling it. Old Woody will age well for several years if stored in a cool dark cellar. Serve only lightly chilled, with a strong cheese and a hearty loaf of bread.

Badgerben’s Cellar Reduction night. Dark brown body with faint head. Dark fruits and caramel malt on the aroma. Similar body with a definite sweetness.

Pours a clear brown with a spare small head. Sweet and very bitter. Aromas of grain and dark fruits. Prunes and dates. Also notes of rye. Medium to full bodied. Soft carbonation. Long dry finish. Thanks to bager.

10/24/07 From the bottle. Aroma is vanilla with dark fruit skin character forward, plumlike, luscious. Appearance is hazy amber brown with a moderate off-white head. Flavor is starchy, with woody sweet malt forward, medium bittering, well balanced, with harsh flavors that are still harmonious, including a strong oaky note. Mouthfeel is slightly syrupy, high bodied, with a medium carb feel and a resiny finish. Overall, a very cool beer, with oak, resin and a lot of other flavors that might be objectionable, but seem to work together in this brew.

Thanks to FlacoAlto for the vintage ’05 12oz bottle! Hazy rust color with a medium head. Aroma of wood, dust, raisins and alcohol. Fairly dry, woody taste with dark fruit and brown sugar. Medium to heavy body. Very fine drink.

From Badgerben. A very nice beer. The alcohol is well hidden and I didn’t realize this was so strong. Lots of malt in the aroma with some fruit and light roasted character. Flavor is more complex with sweet malt, oak, and red wine.
