| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2007 10/24/07 From the bottle. Aroma is vanilla with dark fruit skin character forward, plumlike, luscious. Appearance is hazy amber brown with a moderate off-white head. Flavor is starchy, with woody sweet malt forward, medium bittering, well balanced, with harsh flavors that are still harmonious, including a strong oaky note. Mouthfeel is slightly syrupy, high bodied, with a medium carb feel and a resiny finish. Overall, a very cool beer, with oak, resin and a lot of other flavors that might be objectionable, but seem to work together in this brew. MrBendo (1048), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of wood, dust, raisins and alcohol. Fairly dry, woody taste with dark fruit and brown sugar. Medium to heavy body. Very fine drink. JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 28, 2007 From Badgerben. A very nice beer. The alcohol is well hidden and I didn’t realize this was so strong. Lots of malt in the aroma with some fruit and light roasted character. Flavor is more complex with sweet malt, oak, and red wine.
