Commercial Description:
Old Woody has been brewed in the style of English Old Ales. We have aged this beer in oak wine casks for six months before bottling it. Old Woody will age well for several years if stored in a cool dark cellar. Serve only lightly chilled, with a strong cheese and a hearty loaf of bread.

Bottle 2003 vintage poured a clear garnet with a minamal amber head. Aromas of plums, dates, and a hint of grapes. Palate was light bodied, smooth, yet crisp. Flavors of grapes, plums, some oak character, and a subtle hint of chocolate with a warming, lingering bittersweet finish.

Rating 800!! 2005 12 oz bottle from JCapriotti. Thanks Jason! Pours a very dark redish brown mahagony color with an off white fluffy and foamy head. Head receedes leaving thick lacing on the glass and a thin film on top of the body. Nose is black licorice, some sweet dark fruits, dates, plums, maybe even cherrys? Lots of grapes are present here as well as some light malted milk balls. After it settles and airs, a very rich dark chocolate moves in to the nose. WOW. Very sweet chocolate and caramel up front. Very smooth on the palate and flows right through your mouth into your throat. A little alcohol on the nose now that it has been stirred up. Very much more sweetness, chocolate, some light caramel, more of the malted milk balls for sure. A light oak taste here and there, very subtle yet rich. Finishes with a chocolate tingle in your throat and a light bitterness. Mouth is plastered with sweet lasting flavors.

03 vintage Pours dark red/brown with a bubbly small beige head. Dark fruits dominate the nose. Flavor starts off with dry oak, prunes, and malts. After a shot of cabernet sauvignoun sweetness, the finish becomes even drier with a merlot-like finish. A very interesting beer indeed. Very enjoyable.

2005 vintage, 12oz. bottle. Murky dark brown orange, small tan head. Oxidized sherry notes, vinous, earthen malt, figs, and a slight saltiness in the aroma. Slight tannic woodiness, rich cocoa and caramel flavors. Dark fruit and spiciness in the finish with a tinge of phenolic peatiness. Mouthfeel is medium heavy, fairly chewy.

Clouded brown appearance, decent head formation. Rich malty prune nose with hazelnut tones. Sweet chocolaty palate, dark fruits and nuttiness, fair citric bitterness in the finish. A little syrupy but decent beer.

Thick opaque brown pour with a thin foam head. Fruity esters, malt, marzipan, candle wax in the aroma. Quite smokey in flavor. Fruity and spicy with some sweetness. A little thin in body. Good overall flavors though seems a bit unbalanced. Alcohol is not prominent.
