Commercial Description:
Old Woody has been brewed in the style of English Old Ales. We have aged this beer in oak wine casks for six months before bottling it. Old Woody will age well for several years if stored in a cool dark cellar. Serve only lightly chilled, with a strong cheese and a hearty loaf of bread.

The aroma was grainy w/ dark fermented fruit, and a slight vinious (grape) note. The flavor had grapes, wood, dark fruit and candy textures. The beer poured a cloudy brown color w/ golden highlights; slight head and medium lacing. THe mouthfeel was well-rounded, and creamy w/ a medium body.

Pours dark ruby amber color with a small dissipating off white head. Carbonation appears to be light. Aroma is multi-layered and complex. Sweet malt with oak. Flavor is rich and deep with lots of maltiness, chocolate, wood, and an aged quality. This one could easily be consumed after-dinner in place of dessert. Yummy. Thanks Andre’!!!

Pours with a deep burgundy body topped by a thin to medium thick head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet yet bitter with notes of oak, a little caramel and some alcohol. The flavor is similar with some smokey notes. Full bodied, Smooth and slightly dry in the finish.

2003 12 oz bottle. Very dark, rusty copper when held to the light. No head. You can smell the wood right out of the bottle. In the glass alcohol, raisin, oak and wine scents are present. Body is a touch oily. Alcohol is present, particularly in the finish, but does not overwhelm. Rum and raisin flavour with notes of christmas pudding.

Bottled 2003 version: Dark amber coloured. Clear. Light beige head. Malts, fruit, alcohol and light spices in the aroma. Flavour of prunes and raisins, alcohol, earth and some hoppyness. Ends on a flavourful bitter note. Very nice beer. Leaves a nice alcoholwarmth on the lips.

Thanks to Buck Dich for this. The great beers from Buck Dich just keep on coming. 2003 bottling. This one pours hazy ruby with a smallish off-white head. Aroma of dark fruit, hops, malt, cognac, port, smoked sausage, oak...a barleywinish aroma. Tastes malty, very dark fruity, with finishing cognac, cabernet, prunes, even a rauchy oak element. Multiple layers of complexity of flavor, and a very smooth, dense palate. Finishes fruity, oaky, and rauchy, and goes very well with aged extra sharp white cheddar.
