Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 4, 2005 An unclear dark brown beer with a disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of prunes and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of prunes and wood, leading to a dry end. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 2, 2007 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Hazy, warm amber golden with a tiny, off-white head. Fat aroma of wood, overripe fruit and sherry. Rather full and rich body - a bit low in carbonation - lots of fruity and woody accents, overripe fruit in particular. Actually extremely complex with oxidization, sherry and noble rot. Very subdued bitterness. Very interesting. 230807 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 3, 2003 Sampled cask-conditioned at Archer Ale House, Bellingham WA. Reddish brown - quite dark and cloudy. Rich malty aroma - toffee, alcohol, and a bit of dark fruit in there as well. Thin flavour, though - a quickly dissipating malt & wood thing, fruity notes, herbal hops...but believe me it’s not as complex as that might lead you to believe. It is rather one-dimensional really, in its unbalanced wood & malt thing. A true Old Ale, yes, but not a good one. yespr (6364), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 5, 2007 75 cL bottle, thanks to sk8viking. Pours slight hazy brown with a white lacing head. Yes this is woody, slight dried fruity and and malty aroma. Flavour has the same with minor acidic note before the finish and a slight liqourice note. joergen (6339), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 3, 2007 Bottle.
