Malty aroma with notes of toasted malt, twigs and caramel. (6+). Very light bitterness balances a fairly malt forward flavour profile. Average palate. Very well balanced and drinkable, bonus points for being organic. Lubiere (4551), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 11, 2006 Hazy amber ale with a thick off white head. Bizarre sweet lollipop aroma, caramel and initial lemon overtones, fading quickly. In mouth, very woody malt, with scotch like qualities, restrained hopping, caramel, with a rather short persistence. Medium bodied. I like the scotch notes. Bottle from Piscator, Nov. 2005. Merci Kris. DuffMan (2774), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 26, 2006 Deep amber orange-brown, hazy. Surprising aromas of fruity and resiny hops with some sweet undertones. This plays out more like a pale ale variety because of the hops. sure there is crystal malt caramel here, but it takes a distant backseat. Really good, but I had to check the label to make sure tis was an amber! jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Nice amber color with a decent sized white head. Taste was a pleasant blend of malts, caramel, sweetness, and hops. Unfortunately, the intensity was fairly muted. Good taste, but no better than average for an amber. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2006 Indeed amber in color with thin white head. Aroma is bread and some sweet malts. It is also marred by a slight metallic smell. The taste has some bitterness at the beginning and the end. Nice sweet malt backbone and slight bread flavor create a nice mix. There may be a hint of astringency. All in all it’s not too bad. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Aroma is sweet Hop sand pine.
Flavor is sweet malt and caramel with a hint of smoke on the finish. OldMrCrow (1202), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a clear amber with a modest head and a few stray bits of sediment. Weak aroma of grassy hops and some burnt (but not dark-roasted) grains. The flavor too is grainy, slightly sour, slightly metallic, reminding me of all the reasons that I do not get excited about the majority of amber ales. The beer is overcarbonated, and while I’m perfectly capable of drinking this one without wincing, there’s nothing about it that I’d want to repeat either.
