Jul 10, 2009 Fish Tale Organic India Pale Ale is a hazy, medium-light amber ale with a light khaki film of a head with a cluster of big bubbles and thick sheets of lacing. Fresh, bright hops are in the nose. It’s very piny, with a resinous (pine tar?) note from the malt. It smells great. It’s medium bodied, silky and soft with a dry, fluffy finish. It has a huge, bitter flavor. It’s very piny and well supported by a resiny malt flavor. It’s very good and to the point.

Dec 14, 2007 Olympia, WA still makes great beer, but now it is fish tale. This is my favorite of the fish brewing offerings. Good from the bottle, great from the tap.

Dec 5, 2008 OKay i dont know what the hell you guys are drinking but the website says this is 6.5 abv. also, it smells of piney resinous hops. tastes the same, very bitter with a great long lasting finish. moderate sweetness balances the hoppy bite. i dont know wtf pacific gem hops are but GIMME MORE. loved this.

Apr 24, 2006 Yikes. This is ridiculously good. Excellent presentation -- nice tangerine color, good head, excellent retention. Centennials and Pacific Gem hops must be the key to my heart. Malts only lightly toasty. Barely detectable tannic or gristy flavors. Floral, pine, herbaceous. Sounds run of the mill but it’s brightness, sharp clean flavors that really make this a stand out. I’m impressed.

Feb 21, 2005 Looks like I’m at the high end of the curve for this one. Thanks to Buck Dich. I’m all about balance. I love a mouth puckering hop whallop as much as the next hophead, but subtle balance and complexity are amazing things. This one pours hazy orangish, with a medium, creamy white head. Aroma of malt, hops, perfumy florals, ground black pepper. Tastes malty, hoppy, with floral esters, perfumy elements, and mucho black pepper.....very solid perfumy florals in this, and tons of black pepper taste and smell. Smooth palate. As it warmed, the black pepper element became stronger and I even detected a subdued rauchy element. Amazing balance, amazing complexity. Suffice it to say that I loved this one.

Feb 15, 2003 Updated: Mar 17, 2003I always love it when the aroma hits you as you first pop open the bottle and begin to pour. Creamy frothy head and very cloudy appearance with an extremely hoppy and a smooth not overly bitter aftertaste that rounds off into a satisfyingly sweet finish.
