Commercial Description:
Named for the majestic creatures which embody the proud spirit of the Republic of Cascadia, Wild Salmon Pale Ale is a light bodied and beautifully balanced Northwest-style pale ale. Its gentle sweetness, drawn from Pale, Carastan, Vienna, Cara-pils, and Honey malts is nicely matched by Chinook hops and late additions of Cascade and Willamette hops. Northwest Pale Ale enthusiasts will love this beer as much as they love the beautiful region which has inspired it. In firm commitment to our love of the Great Northwest, the people at Fish Tale Ales are donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of each case and each keg of Wild Salmon Pale Ale to the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition, helping to rebuild healthy runs of wild Pacific salmon and steelhead. On draught or by the bottle, this treat from Fish Tale Ales is remarkably bright with a brilliant golden color and thick creamy head. Wild Salmon Pale Ale is sparkling and crisp with a fresh hop aroma and refreshing finish.

12-oz. Pours a clear medium amber with a towering bubbly platinum blonde head. Plenty of lace, bits of rising carb. Neutral nose, mild attack, thin body, low carb. Nuttiness on the mid-palate and not, alas, much else. Vacant finish. This is just alarmingly mild for Fish. The nuttiness is really appealing, must be the organic grain, it’s definitely got husk to it, too. But there’s just not a thing there beside it. Too bad.

Bottle. Pours clear but bubbly amber. Thin white head, slight lacing. Aroma is wonderfully pleasent; sweet, a bit hoppy. Very smooth opening, a little on the watery side. Middle is balanced and leads into a hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is a little on the weak side, and dry towards the end. It’s a good beer in a competitive style.

Bottle via trade with piscator34. Clear ruby-orange colour with a small white head. Mild aroma of herbal/floral hops and faint malt. Body is on the thin and watery side, a bit disappointing. Flavour is OK, well-balanced with a mildly bitter hoppiness in the finish, but I was left wanting more. Still, at 4% alc, I could see this being a nice session beer. Too bad it’s not available around here...

Orange-amber pour, well beyond anything typical of pale ales, head on par, lacing ok. The aroma was herbal, earthy, light smoke. The latter was odd. The flavor was overcome with rotten vegetables and a harsh smokey background. The latter started out almost as a hop spiciness, but before I finished the first sip turned to a peat and ashy smoked flavor that was nasty. I had to recheck the label and make sure smoked salmon wasn’t an intent of the beer given its name. Just not a good beer, started to take me back to a bad experience I had with MH’s Jinx. Mouthfeel was light and maybe a little acidic, an overall flat out bad experience.

12oz. bottle. Pale orange color with a small film of white head. Acrid floral hops with hints of citrus and a ruddy malt underpining. Slightly toasty flavors up front, consumed by an earthen spicy hop bitterness. Persistent bitterness with a faint astringency in the finish. Mouthfeel is light, rather dry.

The dominate element in the aroma is the caramel but there is also lightly roasted malt, nuts, and herbal hops. The appearance is orange/gold with a small head that laces the glass well. The flavor is buttery with all the elements from the aroma and a light hoppy, nutty finish. The palate is somewhat sticky. Overall I like it.

Bottle: Nice amber/copper pour with a moderate head and average lacing. The aroma is hopped with citrus tones and some sweet malts. Taste is a basic hoppiness with some earthy tones, malt, and light citrus notes. Not bad, but not much better than average.

Bottle from World of Beer in Clearwater. Aroma is fruity at first with some mild citrus hoppiness, but then a dirty dishwater note appears. Murky copper, orange with a bubbly white head. Stale malts, watery with a mild hop presence. Slightly vegetal and rotting. Not so hot this one.
