Commercial Description:
Named for the majestic creatures which embody the proud spirit of the Republic of Cascadia, Wild Salmon Pale Ale is a light bodied and beautifully balanced Northwest-style pale ale. Its gentle sweetness, drawn from Pale, Carastan, Vienna, Cara-pils, and Honey malts is nicely matched by Chinook hops and late additions of Cascade and Willamette hops. Northwest Pale Ale enthusiasts will love this beer as much as they love the beautiful region which has inspired it. In firm commitment to our love of the Great Northwest, the people at Fish Tale Ales are donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of each case and each keg of Wild Salmon Pale Ale to the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition, helping to rebuild healthy runs of wild Pacific salmon and steelhead. On draught or by the bottle, this treat from Fish Tale Ales is remarkably bright with a brilliant golden color and thick creamy head. Wild Salmon Pale Ale is sparkling and crisp with a fresh hop aroma and refreshing finish.

bottle-pours light orange with a small fizzy white head. aroma of earthy hops with that definate green organic thing going. It doesnt smell like PNW’s however. more EKG and Fuggles than PNW. flavors are earthy, sweet malt and fairly resinous. body is a little lilte and somewhat flat. pretty boring beer if you ask me.

Bottle: Pours copper-orangle with a decent head; the aroma is citrus hops and a hint of toast. The flavor contains the expected pine-and-citrus of the cascade hops, but brings with it a certain graininess, a strong hint of burnt rubber tires, and a weaker hint of rotting salmon. Mouthfeel is thin, but reasonable for the style and low ABV.

Not a particularly impressive beer.

Draft: Pours light orange with a robust head. The nose is fairly pleasing - loads of caramel with citrus wafting all about, mostly orange, maybe a bit of lime. But what a disappointment the flavor turns out to be. Cardboard strongly dominates, with a dry bitterness behind it that reminds more of metal and talcum powder than of juicy hops.

Unfortunately, this one is consistant with my impressions of the rest of the Fish Tale organic line: Not worth drinking unless one is confronted with a truly dire set of taps.

Slightly hazy copper body; fluffy ivory head… soapy lacing. As with most of the session beers that Fish Tale brews, this pale ale also has a roasted malt, kind of burnt cedar plank smokiness to it…. Now reading others reviews, I am the only one that picks this smoky likeness up?? There is a nice caramel profile, hints of toffee, and a nice mouthwatering juicy hoppyness on the back end and finish. Gentle citric notes, some grapefruit, guava, lemon… a nice spruce chipped spiciness… Earthy… a Great session beer!

Bottle. Poured a transparent lighter-golden with a quickly-diminishing white head. Caramel malt, honey, and rather stale floral hoppage. Light on the palate, yet tacky on the roof and around the edges of the mouth. A bit grainy, too. Flavors of caramel, dried flowers, light honey, and some residual citrus from the Cascade. Lemon and barley provided a mild finish. This really didn’t do it for me.. but I appreciate the Salmon Coalition efforts and the organic ingredients.

12 oz bottle, via trade w/ 1FastSTi. Copper colored, small fizzy head, lots of carbonation rising. Soft floral hop aroma, some light grapefruit notes. Tastes lightly bitter with a background of soft malt. Medium bodied with a pleasing creamy mouthfeel. Nothing outstanding here, bit a nice session Pale Ale at 4% ABV.

Light amber in colour. The aroma is all caramel malt with this one. The flavor is also dominated by caramel, with some notes of peach and a bit of mild orange on the back end. A little watery, but about what you’d expect from a low test beer. I’m wondering what happened to all of the hops with this one?

Bottle. Pours a lightly opaque, medium amber color with a fantastic off white head that is quite dense and leaves great foamy lacing. Aroma is lightly floral and fruity. Medium bodied. Quite a nice balance of malt and hop. Peach and very subtle grapefruit seem to come out in flavor. A bit light on the palate. Decently done and at 4% would make an excellent session beer.

From a bottle shared by Chuck. Cloudy amber body, short-lived soapy whtie head. Mint, mandarin orange, and KFC biscuit malt in the aroma (banana highlights on the end). Yeast-spicy, lemon/stem hops highlight the flavor while a bready malt provides the foundation. Minerals in the finish.
