Commercial Description:
Named for the majestic creatures which embody the proud spirit of the Republic of Cascadia, Wild Salmon Pale Ale is a light bodied and beautifully balanced Northwest-style pale ale. Its gentle sweetness, drawn from Pale, Carastan, Vienna, Cara-pils, and Honey malts is nicely matched by Chinook hops and late additions of Cascade and Willamette hops. Northwest Pale Ale enthusiasts will love this beer as much as they love the beautiful region which has inspired it. In firm commitment to our love of the Great Northwest, the people at Fish Tale Ales are donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of each case and each keg of Wild Salmon Pale Ale to the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition, helping to rebuild healthy runs of wild Pacific salmon and steelhead. On draught or by the bottle, this treat from Fish Tale Ales is remarkably bright with a brilliant golden color and thick creamy head. Wild Salmon Pale Ale is sparkling and crisp with a fresh hop aroma and refreshing finish.

a cloudy orange w/ a small white head that dissapates quickly but laces pretty well. Aroma fades w/ the head but smells of a nice sweet malt and a good amount of citrus hop (oranges). Palate if fairly full pretty well coated. Flavor is a mild malt (hints of sweet) and a dry even hop some wheat and a citrus rind taste... Overall an ok APA.

Pretty aromaless - I must admit I was hoping it would smell like salmon, or lox. Tough to say much about this one, a little wheaty, but only slightly in the finish. In general, this is just one uninteresting beer. Had again and gave it a 7,4,6,2,12. Same score.

Bottle: This was pretty good. It seems a little thicker than other pale ales I have tried. You can pick up the hops in the aromas and it has a similarly pleasant taste as well. It is a cloudy, light copper color with a nice white head. Tastes great and more filling.

I picked this up at Outpost in MKE. This pours to a beautiful glowing copper body with a rapidly but not fully disapating white head. I love the color. Could have more head. The aroma is pretty big. Nice barley malt, Chinook hops, other good hops and nice grains. This smells very clean and fresh and quality grains. I love the aroma. The flavor is nicely malty and sweet. Light lemon, good NW hops. Medium-light bodied with a good texture. I think I like this because the organic ingredients used. It tastes very clean and delicious. I think this would go really well with Salmon. Perhaps that’s why they named it Wild Salmon?

Bottled. Pours a reddish orange color. Aroma is somewhat sweet and malty. Malty metallic color. I can taste a little bit of malt but the metal flavor is overpowering.

(12 oz bottle: Bottleworks in Seattle, WA) Smells too much like generic beer, grainy, lightly malty, a bit sweet, maybe some vague hops aroma. The flavor is a bit different, more woody and earthy, mildly malty, very gently hoppy, a bit sweet, maybe a vague smokiness in the finish. It’s not a bad flavor, I just wish there were more of that flavor. Light to medium body. Pale golden in color, with a good sized whitish head that slowly falls away to a rim. I’d say this is a truly average pale ale, and it’s getting truly average ratings from me.

Bottle - An unremarkable organic pale ale, I expected rather more from Fish Tale given their other rather better offerings. An organic beer should not be as limited as this in flavor, there are good organic ingredients available.

Ea,thy aromas, malty, citrus hop aromas. Pours a nice amber orange, nice foamy head. Quite hoppy. Hoppier than their organic IPA which I had last night. Citrus, pine. Very crisp and refreshing. An enjoyable pint.
