Commercial Description:
Named for the majestic creatures which embody the proud spirit of the Republic of Cascadia, Wild Salmon Pale Ale is a light bodied and beautifully balanced Northwest-style pale ale. Its gentle sweetness, drawn from Pale, Carastan, Vienna, Cara-pils, and Honey malts is nicely matched by Chinook hops and late additions of Cascade and Willamette hops. Northwest Pale Ale enthusiasts will love this beer as much as they love the beautiful region which has inspired it. In firm commitment to our love of the Great Northwest, the people at Fish Tale Ales are donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of each case and each keg of Wild Salmon Pale Ale to the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition, helping to rebuild healthy runs of wild Pacific salmon and steelhead. On draught or by the bottle, this treat from Fish Tale Ales is remarkably bright with a brilliant golden color and thick creamy head. Wild Salmon Pale Ale is sparkling and crisp with a fresh hop aroma and refreshing finish.

Smokey peach color. Lots of sustaining carbonation streams. Compact parched white foam reaches slender height. Keeps a moderate haze on top once it shrinks. Large and patchy lacing morphs into cob webbings. Nose is a mere poke at that air with nominal amounts of caramel, lightly zested citrus, and softly intwined fresh spruce cuttings. Clean and respectfully undertowed. Crisp taster on the first span of flavor where semi citric tones of dullish grapefruit and lemon slide into a grassy realm towards the hind quarters. Mild and clean. Smooth, sweet malt sugar backing holding balance. A peek of toastyness makes its way around the edges where the grasses bend. Bitterness only breaks a smidgeon of accountability in tone and effect. Clean and smooth medium body with a favorable carbonation level that lets the malts and hops do its calm balancing. No hop beast I assure you. Simply mild mannered and pleasant enough, staying steady in flavor and body rendering a certain undefinable quality of good Ol’ fashioned sessioning.

Poured with a foamy head...lots of carbonation throughout the drink. A hoppy aroma with an almost coppery color. The flavor was bordering on sweet with a nice balance of bitter to leave a smooth aftertaste in your mouth.

Bottle. Light fluffy head maintained by heavy carbonation. Honey-amber colour. Sweet aroma with subtle hop and malt characteristics. Malty body with amber-like vanilla notes as well as soft spruce and oak qualities. Gentle diminishing finish.

Looks like I may stand with only a select few raters that really liked this beer. Pale Ale though? Hmmm. Lightly hazed orange, creamy white head. For a 4% beer, the nose seemed pretty damn complex with crazy notes of smoked salmon (lox for the Jews in de house), wood, salt, light citrusy orange, grains, and hints of sweet toffee. Flavor was similar with the light smoked tones intermingled nicely with the citrus, wood, and caramel malt. Real interesting and somewhat unique. Medium bodied, light carbonation, drying, woodsy, citric finish. I’d like to down several of these with my Sunday morning bagel binge.....l’achaim!

Sour, earthy, grapefruit nose; nutty malts, mild bittering and medicinal notes; creamy and full bodied mouth feel; not bad

Orange/amber color under a small off-white head. The aroma was malt, hops, candy, and, dare I say it, fishy. Powwer of suggestion? Who knows. But there was just something fishy about the aroma. Not Fulton Fish Market fishy. Just a subtle note of seafood. Medium to light body, watery. The flavor was unimpressive and a bit put-offish.

Golden-caramel colour. Chewy, brown sugary aroma with sweet malts and citric notes. Hints of lime, toffee accent the similar palate. Overall moderate character.

Large white head with a clear yellow/orange body. Malty aroma with heavier hops herbs and citrus. Earthy yeast on the nose as well. Nice bitterness throughout but balanced by the malts. Medium bodied throughout. Nice bitter finish. A well done ale.
