Commercial Description:
Named for the majestic creatures which embody the proud spirit of the Republic of Cascadia, Wild Salmon Pale Ale is a light bodied and beautifully balanced Northwest-style pale ale. Its gentle sweetness, drawn from Pale, Carastan, Vienna, Cara-pils, and Honey malts is nicely matched by Chinook hops and late additions of Cascade and Willamette hops. Northwest Pale Ale enthusiasts will love this beer as much as they love the beautiful region which has inspired it. In firm commitment to our love of the Great Northwest, the people at Fish Tale Ales are donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of each case and each keg of Wild Salmon Pale Ale to the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition, helping to rebuild healthy runs of wild Pacific salmon and steelhead. On draught or by the bottle, this treat from Fish Tale Ales is remarkably bright with a brilliant golden color and thick creamy head. Wild Salmon Pale Ale is sparkling and crisp with a fresh hop aroma and refreshing finish.

169th rate of this brew. My 104th APA rate! Consumed in the beer garden at the Seattle Green Festival at the Convention Center with my girlfriend. Not much going on in the aroma, some malty sweetness, caramel, earthy floral hops are light but there. Perhaps in the mold of an organic SNPA. Amber pour, thin head. Lightly toasty and sweet followed by light floral bitterness in the finish. Easy drinking, sessionable, but not much else going on.

Bottle. It pours an orange-golden body and a small off-white head. Grainy, sweetish and fruity nose with a touch of pine-cones and tropical fruits. Malty sweetness in the mouth, with piney and orange hops, leading to a grainy and hoppy finish. Medium body. I don’t get it, even though it’s quite tasteful, it’s really boring. I wouldn’t shy away from another bottle, but I don’t think I could have it all night. (090116)

Bottle, at tasting with yngwie, gunnfryd and Beer2000. Amber color, fine off-white head. Aroma is fruity (peach) and hoppy. Flavor is malty with hops and fruit. A bit thin, but not bad at all.

1/17/09 On draft at the Brewpub, Olympia, Wa. Aroma is caramel forward with a light fruity background and very low hop flora. Appearance is clear gold with a medium maintained white head. Flavor is sweet malt forward with very low bittering and a watery finish. Mouthfeel is medium-low bodied with a medium carb texture. Overall, a bit too simple, and too little hop character for a pale ale.

This six has been staring at me in the grocery store for a couple of months now. Haven’t been traveling much, so I’ve got to take new ratings where I can get them. Not my favorite style, a hammy label, I wasn’t enthused. Candied aroma with mild hops. Very light brown, clear, the color of tawny lager, an almost-white head. Starchy/pasty toasted caramel flavor, cereal/grainy backbone. Dry and almost lagerish. Mouthfeel was dominated by that wet paper bag thing. Long grainy-bitter, mostly dry finish. Drinkable, just not very entertaining. Publix.

Bottle. Clear medium yellow pour. Typical American type pale ale. Crisp hops, not too heavy on the malt. Floral and citrus notes. Refreshing!
