A spectacular product that does not disappoint. Pours an opaque black, tan bubbly head. Aroma is dominated by vinous notes, presumably from the barrel aging. Chocolate and wood undertones as well. Sweet all the way down. Wine middle and also bitter cherries with some astringence. Body is light, suprisingly so. Smooth finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Bravo! Aroma of malt, chocolate, dark fruit (cherries), licorice, prunes, cognac. Tastes roasty malty, extremely dark fruity, with a big cherry element at the finish, along with hcocolate and some soy sauce. Smooth, dense palate. Well hidden alcohol. To me, this one is 1 part GD Yeti, 1 part Weyerbacher Raspy Impy, and 1 part Stone RIS. All parts are delicious. Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA

Pour was very dark with a few bubbles to claim for a head. Nose was full of wonderful wine, oak, chocolate, malt, sweetness. Taste was so friggin mellow, like a beer-wine with so friggin much flavor. Pears, apples, chocoalte, hints of caramel, darker fruits, red wine, oak, some nutiness. Just plain pure goodness that will not be duplicated. PHENOMENAL. Send me more. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 21, 2005 2001 bottle, thanks brewbandit! Head is initially large, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is absolutely opaque black, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty, the oakiness is there too with notes of anise and alcohol. Flavor is sweeter than expected, lightly acidic, lightly bitter with some of the wine cask taste moving forward....I like it. The red wine characteristics are similar to what I tasted in the bottle of Leviathan. Finish is still sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy/velvety texture, and lively carbonation. Alcohol is present, but doesn’t dominate the show. I took a few hours to drink the whole bottle and was sad to see the last of it pour into my glass. Tasty imperial. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA

Absolutely stunning aroma, vinous, woody (of Oak variety) and of heavily roasted malts. I can’t think of any Imperial Stout that has as such a wonderful aroma as this one. Picking up raisins, black cherries, and subtle chocolate notes, as well as the oaken casks they were stored in. This is simply orgasmic!!! Flavor is utterly phenomenal, woody with a vinous quality. Roasted malts, yet not overly hopped, quite malty... finishing extremely smooth. Body and mouthfeel are utterly fantastic. So smooth... the ABV is completely undetectable. I’d say this is as good as

LIQUID CRACK

I am completely blown away by this. Words cannot describe how fantastic this is. Finishes smooth, woody, chocolate notes, roasted malts, with a lovely vinous quality. For those that are put off by anything remotely related to wine may not like it, but the blending of this brew in Cabernet Wine casks is utterly phenomenal. I cannot say enough good things about this brew. WOW

Aromas of curants, vanilla, figs, some serious bretta funk, and yes you can even smell the cabernet in there. Huge body but not distractingly so. Huge grappy flavors with lots of dried fruits and roasted grains. Some lingering cabernet and chocolate flavors and a slight drying hoppiness at the end. The bretta sourness is absolutely perfect in this beer. I could drink this a lot. One of the best imperial stouts I’ve had ever. YEAH THIS IS #600!!! pineypower (1096), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jan 12, 2005 Thanks to Andre for this one. 2001 Vintage. The bottle let out a little carbonation upon opening and poured out a deep black with a beautiful lacing head with a nice amount of carbonation. The aroma was amazing and told of wood/malt. The taste was very complex and smooth with nice chocolate, sweet fruit taste with a note of wine and a slight earthy flavor that finishes with slight hop. The palate was a little lighter than I’d expect from a beer of this size, but still did not take anything away from the experience, a truley awesome beer! mdi (573), Nebraska, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 24, 2004 75cl capped bottle, Batch 4 bottled Nov. 2002. THick oily black pour with good dark head. Big oak and raisin cherry twang nose. Big sweet beer that sticks to my lips and makes me lick them for minutes after taking a drink. Massive oak character, and a strong vinuous, grape/cherry aftertaste. This thing is monsterous and complex, so much so that it makes it less enjoyable to drink. The oak/wine notes and interest add make it unique, but it is tough to drink much of it because it is so sticky and the flavors just overrun each other. A few ounces, great, but much more is tough to handle unless you are drunk...this bottle sat around awhile before it was finally finished by the unsuspecting...
