amazing. shared this with friends at a birthday party, everybody loved it (even the miller lite folks) ... it's rich, full, and oh smooth. malty, coffee (espresso), sweet. good carbonation, fantastic head that was practically just a brown pillow. if mobsters weren't so into their latte and cappucino they'd be drinking this instead. i wish could sit down with this in a room alone, without all the smoke that was around me. oh hum. (great thanks slik!)

Amazing stout with many different flavors. A slight bitterness accompanied by cherry esthers. The alcohol is not hidden at all but the citrus sweetness adds to the flavor. A huge amount of malty syrup ready to pour onto my rooty tooty fresh and fruity.

FWE beer#10. Jsquire, big props for this one. Big brown head that quickly left only a ring around the edges. Carbination rising to the top though. Super black. The aroma was not as strong as expected, but there were some malts and sweetness to it. Big flavor. Malty, coffee, sweet. Everything I expected, and more. One of the bse at the event. I need more.

Fort Wayne event. This thirteenth brew of the evening came from Jsquire. This brew poured a very large head of long lasting brown colored fine to medium sized foamy bubbles that left behind a opaque black colored motor oil thick body. Carbonation was visibly rising up the sized of the mug. It had a mild malt coffee aroma and a bubbly tingly mouthfeel. THe flavor was a strong imperial stout like coffee with dark malt.

Batch 3 November 2000. My most anticipated beer at the Fort Wayne tasting. Unfortunately, my stomach began to revolt against the litany of beers it held captive, and I was only able to sample a small amount of Poseidon. A beautiful beer, pouring an opaque molasses brown with some separation of the alcohol and malty mass. Light brown, thin head. Roasted notes present in the aroma, along with some port, molasses and alcohol. Also a hint of smoke. Flavor had a definite wine influence, with sweet malts, wood, and some roast coming through as well. Alcohol was noticeable, perhaps a bit too much so. I enjoyed the highly carbonated mouthfeel, but was surprised at how thin-bodied this beer was. Not what I expected overall, and with a bit of a harsh bite. If I get the chance, I would like to try this one again on a clean palate.

A Big THANK YOU to JSquire for bringing a bottle to TheDM's party. Batch #3 Nov 2001: Jet black opaque appearance with a initial large creany light brown head and excellent lace. Once the head settled, a minor oily film was found, too cool! Heavy burnt malty aroma of molasses, semi-sweet chocolate, mild coffee, smokey wood, floral hops, dates and vanilla. Slightly vinous, Wonderful! Lush sweet mocha taste was wrapped with a nice mild bitter and smoky presence. A nice twangy bitter and woody finish rounds out the explosive flavors. This full-bodied brew has a sticky and lively feel, alcohol was well masked. Nice deep and complex, worthy of it's place among the top 10 Imperial Stouts.

Well this is really good but seems I've had better Imperial Stouts (Old Rasputin...). Pours with a large, brown, long lasting head. Black as black can be. Burnt woodsy taste, goes down with a sweet alchohol finish.

Black; Thick head; Nose was sweet and stout-ish. Wonderful cabernet qualities. Tannins? Tastes nearly like it should go with a steak. Great depth.
