Flavor was very smooth, sweet, and chocolatey. Had a burnt chocolate flavor and there was a lot more barrel as it warmed. Excellent. TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA

Black with no head, minimal head when swirled. Slightly oxidized up front, but otherwise has plenty of buttery sweetness and oak woodiness to it. When swirled bourbon comes up a little more. Flavor is very buttery sweet bourbon up front, hints of vanilla. Some coffee through the middle. Turns very vinous in the finish. Fades out very quick leaving minimal aftertaste. black95tt (82), Doylestown, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 20, 2006 Pours a deep dark brown almost black color. Little to no head. Aroma is among the best I’ve ever smelled. The notes of juicy cabernet and roasty chocolate go together so well that is seems like they were meant to be. The first sip blows me away with robust chocolate roast balanced by a delicate fruitiness imparted by the Cabernet. Complexities such as caramel, vanilla and oak followed by a decent floral hop bitterness follow the onslaught of roasted malt. This is one fantastic beer. There was no indication of oxidation, even given the beers age. Man I wish I could get more of this. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA

Very strong bourbon aroma with plenty of malt coming through as well. The pour was a nice dark black color with a brown head. The taste was boozey and tangy with just a hint of chocolate coming through. A little too much alcohol in my opinion. LeopoldStoch (201), Green, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 16, 2006 I got to try this one thanks to my brother (Black95tt). This was one hell of an interesting imperial stout. I loved what complexities came fromt he cabernet wine barrel aging. This was not the thickest or darkest imperial stout, but actually had some nice lightness and very enjoyable dry sweetness from the wine contributions. This was a really good brew. I just wish I wouldnt have had so many beers the night that I tried this one...so I could have remebered even more about this exceptional brew. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA

The aroma was quite bready...dark fruit, malt, booze and burnt chocolate. The flavor was spicy...boozey and still a bit hot. Nice body, somewhat juicy over the tounge with a warming finish.
