| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Pours a reasonably dark black, allows some light through and doesn’t appear to be too thick. The head is about a finger thick and tan. The aroma is a little roasty, sweet, some molasses, a bit fruity, and something I can’t put my finger on but dont like. The flavor is very waxy and bitter, kind of astringent, sweet, a little roasty coffee, a little alcohol. An unpleasant bitterness dominates the mouthfeel making this sort of unenjoyable. Not the best of the style I’ve had. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2008 Bottle from Bev4Less. Black in color upon pouring. Sweet coffee aroma. Some chocolate. Roasted coffee flavors dominate. A little bit of sugary sweetness. A touch of hops towards the finish. Solid stout. robforbes (1110), Bremerton, Washington, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2008 12oz. bottle, 2006 vintage, purchased @ Blue Max Liquors in Minneapolis around Oct. 2007. Pours a dark brown/black with a one finger tan head and spotty lacing. Aroma is coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, and light citrus and molasses. Flavor is heavy roast to the point of burnt malt, that kind of distracts from everything else. There’s a bit of cocoa, espresso, and more citrusy hops bitterness there as well. Overall this is a bit discombobulated. BlackForestCO (828), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Updated: Feb 16, 200906 bottle thanks to mreusch, thanks Matt. Poured a black color with a thick, dark beige head that left some lacing. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, light coffee, and some caramel. Smooth chocolate entry with a hint of chalk that leads into a sharp, lightly bitter roasted malt flavor with a good dose of coffee that lingers a bit on the finish. Nice body and texture. Surprised by how aggressive it was, especially for being bottled in 06. Not bad, thanks Matt. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA
