Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, dried fruits and a little burned malt. Dry, roasted malt flavour, a little charcoal character and a little fruitiness.

Bottle. Black beer with a tan head. Chocolate, rich malt aroma with light roast. CHocolate and rich malt flavor with enough hops to balance. There’s a balance between dark chocolate and light bitterness. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate, caramel, and light PNW bitterness lingers. Nice complexity.

Tampa, Fl. Whole Foods, 22 oz bomber. Black tar pour, dark khaki colored head, black coffee aroma, hints of black dirt. Flavor is mild for an Impy Stout. Some chocolate, coffee, a bit of black dirt all blended together nicely. Smooth mouthfeel, but just a little thin for an Impy Stout.

2005 bottling. Black with a fleeting tan head. Nice aroma is smoky roasted nuts. Medium body. Good flavor is rich blackened malts with a black licorice/molasses earthy sweetness. This beer is better fresh than aged.

Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, lots of earth and a touch of molasses. Poured almost black with a huge tan head that settled to a thinner lasting layer of foam. Flavors of dark roast, burnt malts, a little salty smoke, a light sweetness that was a combo of chocolate and molasses, and big hoppy finish. Lots of bitter earth, floral, and piney hops. Linger dry roast and hoppy resins.

2006 Bottle. Pours very thick, with a big thick, creamy brown head with a black body. Aroma of cinnammon, toasted and roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, expresso, light leather, and oak. Taste is oakey and quite bitter with a good coffee-chocolate balance. Thickish mouthfeel with small, light bubbles.

Very nice beer. Pours dark brown, opaque, and a big, bubbly thick tan head. Rich chocolate cake aroma, lots of malt, roasted coffee, and leather. Big roasty flavor, chocolate malt, and bitter hops in the taste. Some soy, caramel, and vanilla around the edges. Loved it.

12oz bottle. Pours black with a thin, whispy, tan head that leaves specks of lace. Smells roasty and sweet malty with some slight dark fruit. Tastes nice and dark roasted malty with some malty sweetness and slight dark fruit flavor. Some alcohol flavor as it warms. Full body, good carbonation.
