Nice rich chocolate aroma with some roasted grains, sweet malts and a bit of toffee. Color is essentially black with a little reddish brown around the edges. Sweet and smooth and oh so easy drinking. Lots of roasted grains, a bit of coffee, some molasses and a bit of smoke. A hint of tartness. Creamy and smooth in the mouth with a lingering roasted grains and mild coffee flavor. Mild alcohol presence than you feel more than taste. A damn good impy. Surprisingly easy drinking for a beer this big. badlizard (2345), Berkeley, California, USA

Thick, oily, jet black pour. aroma is lots of roasted malt, smoke, and a touch of hops. Flavour is quite malty, and very roasty, with some dark fruits in the end. the finish is quite bitter. a nice stout, not as impperial as i’m used to, seems to be lacking that big impy kick, and its a tad wattery for an imperial stout. but all in all a quality stout. alexsdad06 (1081), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a medium sized creamy tan head. The aroma was big roasted malts, lighter coffee, dark chocolate, and ripe dark fruits. The flavor was again big on the roasted malts and dark bitter chocolate. Some fruit and black coffee also come through. The finish is more of a general bitterness which is slightly distracting. Medium to full bodied. Decent.
