Medium amber color that builds up a creamy off white head.
Yeast and honey aroma.
Smooth, with lots of body and a sweet palate that finishes with a nice bitter bite at the very end. Alcohol hidden well. Not bad.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2004 Poured a medium, hazy amber color with a large (4.5 finger) off white head. Hoppy/grapefruit aroma with light caramel malts. Grapefruit also comes through strong in the taste. Light malty sweet balance. This was not what I was expecting from a Winter Beer (but I’m not complaining). Body is a little thin. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 23, 2004 Bottle pours dark golden, very cloudy, medium frothy white head, with sticky lacing. Piney aroma, a bit of ball bearing grease as well. Mild hop flavor up front, slightly smokey. Simply body, but mouthfeel is somewhat thick. Finishes not as hoppy as I recall from prior years. I swear, open up a can of wheel bearing grease and you will see what I mean. Take that away and you have a decent IPA, ableit this is supposed to be an English Strong Ale. Meh...

Slighty cloudy orange amber in color. Rich, sweet malt flavor, some caramel apple, some succulent honeycomb pine. Slight bitter, quick finish. An enjoyable ale. kbjames (242), Utah, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 2, 2004 This is a pretty darn good beer that I think is underrated on this site. It has a great yeasty nose and the attack is almost a bit barleywine-ish. Its very luxurios and sits well on the pallate. Another good beer from fish ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2004 Poured a slightly hazy copper color with a medium off white head. Aroma is big on the grapefruit hops. Low on the malt aromas. Taste is very big on the hops both in flavor and in bitterness. Malt sweetness is in the background. The hop profile is citrusy. Medium bodied with a long bitter finish. Reminds me of a big IPA over a winter beer but still nice.
