JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 28, 2009 Tap at Barcade. Nice tap back that I haven’t had in quite some time. Deep brown-ruby beer. Creamy tan head. Aroma is lightly coffeeish with just a touch of light roast on the nose. A little bit burned really. Flavour has a kiss of molasses without any of the heavy sweetness that this aroma usually heralds. Sort of non-descript flavour with a strange macro-esque sweetness that seems quite out of place. There is a touch of coffee and licorice on the back that comes up as it warms, but I still can’t say I’m a huge fan. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Apr 15, 2009 Tap at Barcade: Deep brown amber pour with an off white film that fades. Mild aroma- mild barley roast- not very clean with some lager ester fruitiness and molasses. Fizzy and lacking body. Vague barley flavor- light roast with, again, a lager fruity note. Very thin and lacking malt depth.
