badgerben (3160), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jun 22, 2005 Had this at the Fitger’s Red Star Lounge. Served in a large snifter, it boasts a dark ruby color with no head. Unfortunately, it does not boast an aroma. The taste is a moderate blend of dry wheat and a caramel finish. It has a bit of that ’dirty grain silo’ tinge.
tytoanderso (1201), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Nov 14, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Candy sweetness, spice and spiced apple on the aroma. Pours full, rich amber with a frothy white head. Flavor has a nice balance between sweet and spice with a hint of green apple tartness. Medium bodied and finishes with a yeasty dryness. thomasacross (128), Edina, Minnesota, USA Sep 23, 2007 Draft at the Brewhouse. A nice take on the classic Belgian dubbel. Very appetizing in color. I don’t know that I love dubbels in general -- as with others, it was boozy, strong, and bitter with no real discernable flavor notes. Skyview (2933), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 27, 2007 On tap at the Fitgers Brewhouse in Duluth, MN, pours a clear coppery amber brew with a thin off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian ale style with caramel character. Taste is very wheat, lightly carbonated, with a touch of bananas. Finish is a little watery, dry and some yeast aftertaste. BDR (1929), Roseville, Minnesota, USA May 23, 2007 Massive head on this amber beer. Big wheat nose. Wheat likewise dominates the body. Yeasty finish. undsioux7 (506), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Dec 2, 2006 Aroma of some caramel, some fruit. Flavor seemed a bit bland, palate was a bit too watery. Unmemorable
