humulus (337), Salem, Missouri, USA May 17, 2004 As Silphium so wisely predicted, I find no offense in regard to the hoppy nature of this beer. Rather I find the Golding hops floral, spicy and well balanced with the malty smoothness of the beverage. This is not to say that it isn’t hoppy. I mean, it is an IPA. Additionally, the color is that of cinnamon apple with slight cloudiness. The yeasts bring an interesting marriage to the hops and malts. I enjoyed this beer as much or more than some of the vogue members of "the best" list. All in all, a tasty offering from a brewer of otherwise mediocre beers. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Aug 25, 2004 Great IPA from a great brewery. Very tasty and hoppy with a nice bitter finish. Light haziness and copper color. Sledge Jr (2713), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Dec 2, 2005 On tap at the brewpub. Lighter color than their pale ale. Classic golden and a little bit cloudy. Very very hoppy. Leaves the tongue dry and a little bit in pain. Harsh hop finish. Earthy scent, maybe a little pungent. Musty taste in a good way. mellow maltiness. topherh (254), Kearney, Missouri, USA Jan 17, 2008 At the brewpub Poured a dark copper with an off white head. Hoppy aroma. Flavor was of citrus with some sweet malt in the background. Very balanced and easy to drink. drfabulous (704), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jan 9, 2008 First!
Hopefully, the Flat Branch folks can fill in the details here for commercial description, etc. Floral. Nice hops. Not exactly the hoppy beer I hoped for when I saw it on the menu tonight. Still, credit goes to Flat Branch for offering something new, as well as an IPA a bit hoppier than Katy Trail.
