harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2006 This was truly a great chili beer, and this one won me over, not being a huge fan of the style. I would love to have some of this to add into my chili recipe. Spicy and hot, but only initially. Well balanced, but hot, and not overpowering, just really spicy on the palate.
topherh (249), Kearney, Missouri, USA Apr 14, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of chile. Flavor is of chile and some sweetness before the spiciness hits. Finish is warm and spicy. Very good as far as chile beers go. drfabulous (637), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jan 9, 2008 All props to Flat Branch for the fine service they offer this little town. Without them, we would not have a brew pub nor a place to take our visiting parents who won’t eat anything that is not "American." But this beer...it is undrinkable. Take it off the menu. Its value is pure novelty. Not taste. Drnk_McDermott (1517), Park Forest, Illinois, USA Aug 7, 2007 Draft, 8/4/07. People know I likes me chile beers, so take this with whatever grain of salt you want:Hot, fresh chile smell, like Labor Day in Santa Fe. But that’s all I can smell. Just a pinch off from a pale lager color. Taste is hot, with Anaheims in the lead; nice for us chile heads. Light malts add some off-setting sweetness. Luckily, the burn does not last much past the end of the beer. Burrobuns (71), Columbia, Missouri, USA Apr 27, 2007 I have really mixed feelings about how to rate this beer. It is not something I have any desire to drink regularly (or perhaps ever again), but it is very successful at doing what it intends to do. As was said below, it tastes kind of like the jalapeños from ballpark nachos. Not necessarily a good thing in a beer in my opinion, but if that is what you are going for it is quite good. PhillyBeer2112 (1814), Orange Park, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2006 A pleasant surprise. Looks a bit dull in the glass, a lifeless pale gold. Aroma was curious and inviting, with a straight on green chili aroma, not much else in the nose though. Slight green chili flavors come to the fore, over what is otherwise a pretty clean thin and boring, but not bad, lager. I didn’t find it to have any heat or spice at all really, just the barest peppery kick in the finish. Still, faily well done as a chili beer.
