BückDich (4559), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 26, 2007 Growler pour: Very little head, but tis a growler. The nose is strong with coffee and plenty of light cocoa. The flavor is sweet and pleasant, very little astringency and plenty of that coffee roastiness. The finish is good and smooth. Braudog (3463), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Nov 28, 2004 Brewpub visit 11/04 ... Black as night with a tan head. Milky smooth. Coffee predominates with a chocolaty finish. Very good. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2006 This went amazingly well with the meatloaf that I ordered for lunch. An truly tasty stout, one of the best of the whole trip. Mde with 50lbs of whole oats. Superbly creamy, with some rich flavors of chocolate and creamy cocoa. Strong lingering roasty finish. Sledge Jr (2720), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Dec 2, 2005 On tap at the brewpub. This is a rare example of a great brewpub stout. Black with a light brown head. Strong roasted aroma of chocolate and amaretto. First taste is a slight licorice, then a strong sweetness, followed by chocholate and ending with a milky sourness. This is a complex and remarkably well-made beer. Silphium (2029), Lansing, Michigan, USA Sep 8, 2004 On tap at Flat Branch. Dark opaque brown body, creamy tan nitrogenous head. Full body with rich, layered semisweet chocolate, caramel, and roast. After a few sips the chocolate became a bit too thick, muddy, and cloying. Not a bad beer but not especially good either.
