Commercial Description:
Available only at Midway Stadium, home of the St. Paul Saints. Curly Tail Ale is an ordinary bitter, don't be afraid of the word bitter. This beer is slightly sweet and smooth with a touch of chocolate in the after taste. We used Golden Promise malt, medium and dark crystal malt, chocolate malt and brown sugar. It is hopped with three addition of UK Fuggles.

Went to the Saints vs Sioux City Explorers on May 14 just to get a cup of Flat Earth Curly Tail Ale. At the concession stand near the third base this pours a semi-hazy golden yellow with a five to six-inch white head. Pay $5 for a cup of foam? Aww C’mon! Luckily the server reluctantly agreed with me and dumped out the foam and filled it 2/3 with brew and 1/3 foam. Since the server was overly annoyed at me, I accepted the brew or I’d probably would never get to rate this one. Aroma of medium roasted malt, a touch of milk cholocate and some flowery hops. Taste is smooth, slightly sweet with a piney bitter bite in the aftertaste. The finish is clean and then slightly dry. A pretty good light flavorable brew. At least the Saints won the game 10 to 3.

Tap at the Flat Earth Open House. Dark copper color with no head. Slight orange aroma. Taste has some toasted malt. Bitter finish that borders on vegetal. Simple but good.

RBSG 07, from a growler. It was very nice of Flat Earth to donate this beer. Light biter malt and very light hops. Light, unoffensive bitter that has decent body but lacks flavor.

Sampled at the RBSG 07 Grand Tasting. Thanks Joe from saving me from a Saints game! Light gold color with a light grainy nose. Faint hops in the sweet body. I think I mentioned something about a bite at the end, but i can’t be sure.

RBSG 2007: Growler: Poured a clear gold with an off white head. Aroma, bready with some sharp grainy notes. Flavor, pale malts, some herbal and grassy hops to it. Not bad.

Dark yellowy colour with a decent sized head. Watery on the palate but it didn’t seem to detract from the beer too much. Solid taste, you certianly get the chocolate malts and some of the maltier qualities of this beer. A bit of bitter on the finish. Not bad.
