Growler pour. Dark black pour, almost looked like a coke (minus some carbonation). Flavor is rich roasted malts, roasted backbone and effervescent mouthfeel that finished with a very subdued hint of raspberry. Nice brew, I really appreciate a good fruit beer that doesn’t go over the top with sweetness.

On tap at Winterfest (St. Paul, MN). I’m not normally a fan of raspberries. However, this is a solid beer. These infused porters are really well balanced, and the raspberry here just melds in really well with the porter flavors. I’m definitely a fan of Flat Earth infused cygnus, and of the naming with the Rush themes as well. WIsh I got to try the orange infused Xanadu.

Wow, lots of raspberries in this. Dark reddish hue to it, smells of more razzies. Some of the normal roasty, coffee, flavors come threw, but the fruit dominates most everything. Got to be a bit much after the first pint. Not my fav of their cygnus offerings.

Available via growler and sampled at the brewery on December 11, 2008. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with an average sized beige head that slowly dissipates to a film top and off-white ring. Aroma of dark chocolate, red and black raspberries, a touch of coffee and some molasses. Taste is medium to full bodied, some nice soft carbonation, smooth texture, with a distinct red raspberry and toasted dark malt flavor. Finish has a mild bitterness with a lingering red raspberry and dark malt aftertaste.
