| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 28, 2009 bomber by way of moelikebeer...
pours a slightly hazy chestnut-y brown with a short lived tannish head.
the nose shows a bit of cheesey spent coffee along with nutty caramel, toasty grain, a touch of grassiness and some stank from the hops.
the palate is slightly tingly. flavors of toasted nuts, caramel, chocolate, woody roast, soapy floral hops (when warmed) and a light ashiness before a surprisingly spicy finish. throughout, there is a pleasant acidity which helps keep it easy to drink.
the body is medium though a bit on the thin side. sharp carbonation combined with acidity, ash and dryness makes it go down quickly.
it’s not bad... just lacking some depth and complexity. 6/3/6/3/13/3.1 MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 7, 2009 22oz bottle purchased at Chucks in Chagrin. Pour gave a rather copious head, and its hanging in there. Aroma smells a little sour out of the bottle but is mostly a dry chocolate and heavily roasted malt and some light coffee notes. The flavor is actually find out sour, too bitter and not that enjoyable. oakbluff (302), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Bomber that I forgot about- probably pushing a year old. It didn’t explode while in the cellar, so we are off to a good start! Pours a dark ebony with some garnet highlites when held up to the light. Minimal head but fine lacing. Nose- light roast, dark chocolate. Taste- quite dry, surprisingly spicy for style, chocolate, medium fruitiness, nuts. Carbonation is a little high, and the finish is metallic. Drinkability is not too bad. daknole (3027), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
