Bottle. A dark red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma and taste is dusty, fruity, and of roasted malt and yeast. Medium body with a dry finish.

Dark red with a nice head. The aroma has malt, spruce (gran) and perhaps some biscuit and a yeast aroma. The flavor is also good, with notes of coffee too, and dark fruit like prunes.

Bottled - tasted blind. A red-brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet and very malty combined with notes of roasted malt and chocolate as well as lighter notes of coffee. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate as well as medium notes of coffee, leading to a dry roasted finish which also has a hint of acidity from the roasted malt.

From bottle #2 at sk8vikings American blind tasting. Pours dark brown with a small level of yeast sediments and a huge, lasting and light tan head. Spiced and roasted malt aroma. Flavour is malty and spiced. Dry. Roasted and spiced finish. Lingering malty and more of the same smoothness into the finish. Nice how the spiced flavour diminishes compared to the malt base flavour.

#2 Bottle [Sk8viking great American blind tasting] Huge thick rocky head. Excellent display of lacework. Mahogany color. Aroma of roasted malt, mild fruit, hint of spicy feel. Over the palate came burned malt, chocolate and mild coffee. Medium to full bodied with a lively carbonation and alcoholic texture. Moderated bitter and sweet flavor. Lingering burned and mild bitter hoppy finish. 6 / 4 / 7 / 3 / 15 = 3.5

The aroma here is coffee, chocolate, tart dark fruits, low-key, but noticeably skunky hops and a generalized roast fragrance that leans toward bread and cereal grains rather than specifically malt. The body is dark brown and atop it is a finger sized, tan head that fades slowly and is somewhat bubbly. Roasty coffee and chocolate (ye roasted chocolate) notes bloom in the fore and then segue into yet sweeter notes of fruit malt. This arrangement is pleasing, but there exists a metallic background to the whole affair that is distracting, from a flavor standpoint. While I wish that metal twang would go away, it is not a deal killer and overall this is still quite tasty and drinkable. In the far finish, I get muted notes of stewed dark fruits. The mouth feel is mostly where it should be for the style.

Thanks to Bob for the bomber! Poured clear deeper brown with a moderate cap of dense beige head. The aroma picked up a really odd blend of darker malts (dark chocolates, licorice, and coffee) paired with a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg.. very dark with moderate roast to it. The flavor was chocolate-focused with coffee flavor and bitterness on the edges.. licorice and soy joined in, as well as cinnamon and earthy notes.. almost burnt feel to it. Medium-bodied with heavy, filling carbonation on the palate.. chalky, charred impression left on the finish. This was an odd one, and decently executed.
