Inviting nose full of red apple and bread-centered yeast esters... some butter and some fusel alcohol but both of these are quite faint... the distinct aroma and flavor of fresh dough and apple cobbler is very nice, and the body is appropriately snappy and dense. For whatever reason, this comes off very well, very close to fresh Anchor Steam. Did I get a good batch or fresh bottle, or am I just off-kilter here? I think it’s developing nicely. Pours a very pale gold. Lots of malt flavor. Semi-sweet with a dry finish. I’m not sure I’d call it a California Common, but it’s a very drinkable lager.
