Commercial Description:
UFO experts claim that this element combined with another element make UFOs fly. A true American style beer made with lager yeast fermented at warmer ale temperatures gives this beer a slight fruity character yet remains crisp and refreshing. What kind of beer is it? It depends on whom you ask. Some will call it a West Coast lager, some a California Common and other still will say amber hybrid. We hopped this beer with four different west coast varieties of hops, Northern Brewer, Cluster, Simcoe and Mt. Hood.

A nice, light aroma with a thick and frothy head. Hints of grapefruit and flowers. Actual flavor is crisp, hoppy, and full of wonderful hints of mint, juniper, and rosemary with a slightly burnt-tasting finish that leaves the palate refreshed and clean. Would be quite nice with a lighter blue cheese - perhaps Montangnolo - and a Belgian washed rind like Chimay or Pere Joseph.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a nice white head. Aroma is very mild, with a largely malty flavor complemented by a subtle undertone of floral hops. Taste is creamy and fairly full, with a chalky/malty flavor giving way to a crisp finish of spice and hops. A pleasantly richer and fuller take on a typically light style.

22 oz bomber bottle. Nice deep orange-red color. Lots of fizzy carbonation, with a pretty substantial foamy head. Decent amount of lacing left in the glass. Flavor is mild biscuit malts, a bit of toast, a hint of fruit, with a resinous, somewhat dry, west coast hop finish. Smooth on the palate. Medium bodied. Wouldn’t hesitate to drink this again.

Clear golden amber body with a small white head. Huge northern brewer hop aroma with some light earthiness and caramel. Huge earthy and caramel flavor mostly northern brewer, with some dry malt. Medium light body with moderate carbonation and a grainy finish.

22oz bottle, courtesy of tytoanderso. Thanks, Tyler! Pours a clear, medium orange-amber color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Light aroma, showing red fruits and cardboard, coupled to a citrus and mineral bitterness; one-dimensional. Medium mouthfeel: bready / yeasty notes are most prominent (almost like a sourdough bread), with a sugary, clean malt backdrop; average carbonation; slightly chalky and chewy. Medium finish, with citrus and mineral bitterness and some lingering bread; mouthdrying.

Thanks to Secret Santa for this one. Clear medium amber, little head. Light caramel malt aroma, with some minty hops. Light biscuit malt flavors with good hop flavors mixed in, lots of earthy and minty hops, perhaps even a bit of woodiness. Nice, and I think this is an excellent example of a hop focused California Common. I thought it did a really good job of highlighting the Northern Brewer.
