Commercial Description:
Dutch for Red Herring, a distraction from the reality. Rhode Haring has a sharp sour and tart aroma and flavor mixed with a mild fruitiness created by special yeast strain. We aged this beer for over a year before blending it with a fresh batch of beer.

Thanks to whomever let me have some of this. Pours an amber color with a sour cherry aroma. Flavors are tart sour cherries, but not too strong. This is a decent enough Flanders Red, with nothing bad about it. it just isn’t amazing.

750 mL bottle, # 65/500, thanks to tytoanderso. Pours a dark amber with nice beige head. The aroma is oak, dry red wine, fruit, cellar, and a bit of peppery spice. The flavor has quite a bit of that spicy element, with a good dose of tannic wood and cellar must, too. It has a refreshing tart acidity with an earthy underpinning. A faint fruitiness floats around in there with cherry and plum mostly, maybe some papaya and blackberry. It finishes fairly dry, but has a kind of odd wateriness to the aftertaste that I’m not too sure about. Still a pretty tasty beer, though.

Deep amber pour with a thick off white head. Aroma is woody, tart cherry fruitiness, light funk. Flavour has a hint of funk in the tartness, woody maltiness, tart fruit finish. Very drinkable.
