Aroma of caramel, orange peel, grass, toffee, fruit, and herbs. Flavor of yeast, caramel malt, apple, and mild hops (earthy, grass, herbal). heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2009 Light bronze colored body with a fluffy lightly off white colored head. The smell up front is apricots and light bread dough. There was also some hint of musky sweat. The taste had some bread dough and a little bit of dried apples. There was also some hint of salt and orange peels in the finish. Fruity and doughy, this is an interesting take on a barley wine. BBB63 (4271), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Bottle and served in my big ole Karmeliet tulip: Coppery hue with a small head but lasting foam that leaves spotty lacework upon the glassware. The nose detects very grassy and slight resiny hops, caramel and bready malts, pepper and juniper, hint of sweet wood, and some mineral water. The taste is rather straight forward blend of sweet malt and moderate hop bitterness finished off with a slight kick of spicy twang and fruit. That said it is tasty enough and I had no problem finishing the bottle in no time. Bonus for drinkability, not cloy nor boozy. Easily the best brew I have had from these Rush loving brewers... too bad I could not get the special porters. Skyview (4087), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Sampled at MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Maplewood, MN and supplied by joebrew. From a 22-oz bottle pours a semi-clear golden pale brew with a fast dissolving white head that leaves behind a thin white ring and film top. Aroma of golden crystal bread malt, a touch of toffee and some citrus and flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of light caramel malt, some earthy herb spice, a touch of citrus zest and some grapefruit. Finish is slightly tart with a citrus and bread aftertaste. I would like to try this with a little aging.
