The aroma is pine and spicy hops. I can taste notes of pine, redwood and other tree-like flavors. Flavor is sweet at first, but ends on a dry note. The aftertaste has a nice resinous film that sticks around for a while. At the same time this is an amazingly smooth beer.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Great IPA. Pours orangish with some head. Graoefruit, grassy, citrus nose. Flavor is huge hops, yet an amazing balancing malt. The hops in this beer are awesome, though. Try it. It’s one of the best IPAs out there. 17thfloor (1481), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Updated: Sep 20, 2008[Bottle olive-green wax] Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with a thin white head. Big grapefruit, resin, piney, caramel, peach aroma. First taste is super dry and earthy bitter, followed by sweet honey/sugar, slightly toasty/biscuit with lots of piney/resin earthy hops. The earthiness is balanced really well which usually doesn’t happen with such bitter hops. Very sticky stuff, maybe too sugary, but this is a great IPA. Cornfield (4938), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Had this fresh at my home brewpub both from the tap and on cask. Ya know, I’m startiung to get sick of making comments like this, but brewers Matt and Andrew have really assumed ownership of the IPA style. They don’t merely "Hop Bomb!" you, but add a degree of balance and a blending of hop and malt truly that satisfy this Hop-Head. This baby is slightly hazed and amber of body with a sustained head... both versions. The aroma has plenty of citrus hops - grapefruit and lemon zest, mainly - and a solid caramel sweet base supporting it. The flavor tips towards the hops (Yeah!) and has the addition of pine and a quiet earthiness. Nice dry & bitter finish. Another winner here.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2008 On tap at Flossmoor Station and served in a shaker. This IPA poured a slightly hazy amber with a one-finger thick head of beige foam that hung around for a spell. Some decent lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of sweet, juicy fruit hops and lightly toasted caramel. The flavor was also quite fruity, containing fresh citrus and peach. A solid caramel malt backbone held things together. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. Another solid IPA.
