Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 17, 2006 Moldy hop aroma. dark copper color. medium soapy bitterness. still some oaky flavors. good, but soapy. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2006 miles better than my previous ESB, the red hook. still a weak aromea. hids any alcohol well. decent flavor for an ESB. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 8, 2006 Mainly malt heavy ale in the ESB style. It has a sweet caramel/toffee maltiness base. A lightly floral type hopping in the finish refreshes. A touch lightweight in body for my liking, and yet strangely syrupy. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 8, 2006 Sampled at NotLA II. Pours a clear amber/orange. Toffee and caramel malts with a hint of vanilla in the background. Finishes with a medium hop bitterness. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Mar 6, 2006 Having a clear but dull copper body with a slender white head, this ale has a sweet caramel and toffee nose with a light citric hop bitterness. Full bodied, the malts pretty much carry the show, a mild bitterness arriving at the finish to balance it out. Not bad.

beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Feb 22, 2006 (02.18.06) Sampled at FebFest ’06, Libertyville, IL. Pours clear amber with tiny white head and no discernable carbonation. Heavy sweet malt nose. Medium bodied ale with light malt sweetness and toffee/hop flavors. finishes with light malt fade. A decent drinkable session ale. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Feb 10, 2006 Draft, at FSRB. Light English bitter smell. Coppery colored like a well-worn penny when poured in a shaker pint, with very little head after a few minutes. A luverly mix of Kent hops, but almost to pale ale strength; combined with caramel roast malts for a taste I call "orangey." A lot of body in this beastie. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Feb 8, 2006 Served copper-bodied and honey-hazed with a thin head that left a fine sheeting of white lace. Dishwater aroma with grapefruit hops and harsh isopropyl alcohol. Mild nuttiness late. Flavor is sweet hopcit within a cloyingly sugared, syrupy body. Mild bitters interject, but the finish is sticky sweet and astringent. This is way too overhopped for an English-style Bitter. (Maybe this is an "Imperial ESB.")
