Nose is really roasty, with lots of toasted spices: pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, and cocoa. Creamy and delicious as the roasted malts, chocolate, and spices blend together so well. This is what all pumpkin beers wish they could be. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

Black as promised with a funeral bouquet of cinnamon, nutmeg, roast, pumpkin and chocolate in the nose and flavor. Thick brown head as if it were BA. Wonderfully thick texture. A new presence in my Top 5 and the best pumpkin beer I have ever tasted. miketd (685), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 27, 2008 From a growler shared at WeeHeavySD’s 2000th rate tasting. Dark pour wiht not much head. Roasted malty aromas. Some pumpkin spice, but that really came in through the flavor. Pumpkin pie and hints of the fruit itself. Pretty darn tasty. Competition as good, but in a different way as my favorite Pumpkin beer, Pumking. kmweaver (2501), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Growler, courtesy of WeeHeavySD. Thanks, Jon! Pours a very dark, very oily brown color; headless. Loads of dark chocolate, toasty pumpkin spice, and dense cocoa notes in the aroma; very nice, smooth nose with toasted pumpkin seeds and chocolate. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: dense cocoa, dark chocolate, and intricate, soft spicing (cinnamon, nutmeg, mostly); really nice, dense pumpkin beer; as good and dense and toasty as, and similarly composed to, the Midnight Suns. Lengthy finish: cocoa, dark chocolate, and lots of dry, toasty malts.
