It's that time of year again. When the south siders parade about, when they dye the river green, and when your friends think it's cool to pretend they are Irish. To commerate we are offering Brilliant!, a opaque and creamy stout with a silky mouthfeel. It's served on nitrogen so watch for cascades, and erin go bleargh!

Very good Guinness like dry stout. Very smooth nice dark, dark brown/black coloring. Pours a prefect nitrogen head. Light malted aroma a bit nutty the finish is great because it left me a little dry and I had to have a few more. Also very good with Flossmoors Aught Six ale for a black & tan.

Draft... Pre-DLD06... Black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, lightly tanned head. Excellent retention. Aroma of vanilla beans and chocolate. Chocolately, balanced flavor with a lightly bitter coffee note. Medium-bodied and creamy with pillow-soft carbonation. Excellent example of the style. Brilliant!

Nitro draught at Flossmoor Station. Yes, a blatant Guinness clone… on nitro… in a shaker. And it looks very much like a pub pour: creamy head with a suggestion of a shamrock in the center, perhaps one shade lighter in body color. A very fresh roasty stoutie smell that can only come from… fresh stout. Malts are quite mellow, with very little astringency, just cocoa and a bit of coffee roast, paired off with unobtrusive malts. Nice English pub mouthfeel: almost but not quite "watery." It does not force its attentions on me. And the head leaves interesting patterns behind in the glass.

there’s a weird competing coffee and vomit aroma. It looks great. Awesome texture. Some good coffee flavors and a little smoke.

Draft @ Flossmoor Station: Black with a tan head. Nice aroma of chocolate and coffee. Sweet and roasty malt. The flavor matched the aroma with chocolate and a big roasty malt. Creamy and silky mouthfeel. Soft carbonation.

Pours to a black body with a very dense tan head. Thick lacing. The aroma is chocolatey, black malt, typical Irish Stout. The flavor is chocolatey, milken, sweet lactose, slight wood. The palate is the typical Irish stout. Nitrogenated feel.

A Guinness-clone replete with cascade, deep black/brown body and a long-standing, tan, creamy head. Aromas are roasty and chocolaty with burnt malt edges and a dash of alcohol when warm. Smooth and malty with a healthy dose of milk chocolate. Quite creamy, although a little watery. This actually has better flavor than Guinness Draught (which I rated a 3.4), having a better chocolate presence and less "soapiness".

On tap at the brewpub: Black pour with a creamy light tan head. Some roasty coffe notes, chocolate as well. Kind of a thin mouthfeel, some slight bitterness, with a roasty finish. Thought it reminded me more of Beamish than Guinness, but better than both.
