Pitch black appearance slightly oily-only light through this beer was along the edges. Aroma was robust with roasted oats, molassis, sugarcane, coffie and chocolate. Robust palate-tongue was crushed with a does of oats, smoke, and chocolate. Alcohol well detected. Bitter finish of lingering coffee tones, fresh expresso beans and hops. a very respectable imperial stout. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA

Looks like heavily used motor oil. Black as the new moon. Bright day, outdoor seating. The sun couldn't penetrate this brew. No head... doesn't need one.
The nose is of espresso, dark, bittersweet chocolate and licorice.
The flavor is sweet, but not cloyingly so. Prune, blackstrap molasses, espresso and dark chocolate.
Full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and very soft carbonation.
Short, sweetish, chocolatey finish. Very, very good sippin' stout! hoppygrrrl (104), Albion, Michigan, USA

Noprob with the bottling. Deep and plummy/raisiny. Not to acidic. Very still by the full warmup. Nice. Upped from 3.7 to 4.0. Original: @ FSRB, RBSG2003. Lingering foam, nice color. Alcohol emerges fairly smoothly later on in the finish. Plummy, good smoke and roast, chocolate, cakey, sweet at the end but not too much - very nice! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2003 Another great Imperial from Flossmoor! Not exactly reaching the heights of the Imperial Eclipse, but very rich, roasty and filling. A bit watery upfront and then exploding into giant roasty waves and ending with a slight bitterness and alcoholic warming of the belly! BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 29, 2003 Updated: Mar 3, 2005Rerate: Reborn nearly two year later, this brew hasn’t missed a beat and I was impressed with the depth of palete and overall flavor complexity. The aroma still needs improvemnet but overall this is one damn solid impy, get ya some!---- Original review: On tap - Opaque dark hole black, tan head, medium lacing. Full-bodied brew has an sweet malty aroma with hints of pine and blackcurrent. Very well balanced beer with a very slight alcohol finish. Oily and lively mouthfeel. Warming. Different from the Eclipse Imperial, recommended.
