Nice funky, tannic cherry and raspberry nose, soft creamy cherries and a mild but sufficient barnyard funk in the nose. Smooth and soothing on the palate, lactic but not sharp and prickly. Very well balanced, creamy, mild, smooth, funky. Good stuff. kmweaver (2465), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2008 22oz bottle, purchased @ pre-DLD festivities. Pours a bright, bold orange-amber color; light khaki head with fine-bubbled lacing. Pleasant amounts of funk and pitty red fruits in the aroma; could use a fair bit more density, but dry with a solid fruit character. Medium mouthfeel: slightly medicinal red fruits, some funk and sugar; touch of citrusy acidity; average carbonation; decent tartness, but not quite there. Medium finish: red fruits, touch of tartness and sweetness. fiver29 (723), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 4, 2008 Bottle acquired at pre-DLD party. Pours a dark orange color with white head that does not last very long. I smell tart fruit, apples and raspberries. Had a light mouthfeel with a lot of carbonation. Tasted like a slight tart brew with some oak. Overall a nice brew that could have had a little more body to it. GeneralGao (3057), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 17, 2008 Hand bottle from iowaherkeye. Thanks Joey. Poured a clear ruby red-orange color. The head was off white. Aroma was of apple juice and raspberry. The flavor was also fruit dominated, but some malt character came out at the end. There was light acidity on the tongue. I tasted tart apple juice, subdued raspberry, and a hint of corn muffin (at the end only). Decent. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Thanks to Matt and Andrew for the oppurtunity to sample this treat. (At an impromptu in-brewery meeting of The League of Strange Beer Drinkers) Mid-amber transparent pour with pink highlights and virtually no head. The nose is tart raspberries. Flavor was dominated however by the tart/sour Brett...very nicely so. Funkiness, sour puckering of the mouth, and glimmers of sweet/tart raspberries in the background. Nice dancing spritziness on the palate. Touches of oak barrel woodiness come and go. Great experiment on the part of the brew master. CaptainCougar (5493), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Sampled from bottles graciously opened by our hosts at Flossmoor on 4/28/06: Pours a transparent copper orange with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Sweet, fruity raspberry aroma has some good caramel maltiness and nice tart presence. Starts with a pleasant malty and fruity sweetness with good authentic character and bursting with lots of sweet raspberries. Well-balanced with a light tartness and good oaky notes. Very similar, but better than New Glarus Raspberry Tart. An awesome fruit lambic! Cornfield (4946), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 9, 2006 Matt treated RAYBOY01, dm9831, and me to this gem at Flossmoor’s 10th anniversary. It’s one of two versions of the De Wilde that he and Andrew had worked on.
It poured an amber body with pink highlighting and pretty much no head. The fruit was in the aroma, but the Brett took over, leaving this with a funky sourness and a touch of oak. Lively on the tongue, the raspberry came forward in the flavor, but the Brett ran the show, delivering a funky, fruity, woody taste treat. I’ll do a rerating when the other bottle is popped.
