Commercial Description:
Belgian-style ale aged on raspberries in an oak white wine barrel. Tartness from the wine barrel and some sweetness from the fruit. Belgian bliss!

GABF 2007. An unclear pale golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is acidic with strong notes of raspberries as well as light notes of wood. The flavor has a sharp acidity with notes of newly picked raspberries. Very refreshing.

(Draught) Pours a cloudy pinkish golden body with a moderate beige head. Aroma of strong wild berries, earthiness undertones, and grass pasture. Flavor is dominated by berries with some wood/earthiness that finishes dry.

Dull decaying copper, almost headless. Funkily blended oak, red grapes, powdered raspberries and earthy vegetal aspects form a rather atypical nose. It grows a fair bit of sweetness in mouth, becoming pie-like, yet remaining fresh and juicy. Good level of astringency accentuates the vinous character. Quite interesting that, I’m growing an appreciation for those belgians aged in wine barrels. In this particular case, the barrel really imparts its oldish tannins, if not all the acidity I’d wish for. Light-medium bodied, sparkling carbonation.

On tap at the 2007 GABF: Hazy bronze pour has a frothy dark tan head. Aroma is bursting with great fresh tart raspberries seed character. Body has good light sweetness and fresh, tart fruity raspberry balance toward a crisp, dry finish with some oaky complexity. A very nice and true to style fruit/sour ale.

Brownish-amber in body with the merest of heads, this had a tart & funky berry aroma that seemed to have a touch of the wild in it. The flavor quickly shifts from sweet to sour with the raspberries tasing both fresh and tart. Nice fruity, acidic finish. This is a model for fruit beers to follow.

Biscuity malts and cookie dough yeast character in the lightly tart and fruity aroma. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a low, off white head. Tart raspberry flavour complements the sweet cookie dough yeast character. Medium body is quite dry with lively, pointy carbonation. Sampled at GABF 2005.
