The aroma was of sweet cherries upfront backed by their tart skins and oak.. rather soft and restrained. The flavor found dry, tart cherry dust paired with oaky sourness.. not very complex or acidic.. more oak and cherry tartness on the finish. Dry on the palate with a bit more sweetness than I’d prefer.. OK balance.. wish it had more bite. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2008 On tap at Flossmoor. Poured a dark cranberry color with a filmy head. Smell was tart cherry fruitiness and slightly thin. Still the dry, sour cherry flavor there was nice. Non-vinegary, but still acidic. Tart but not funky. This wasn’t one of my favorites on the night, but was still very solid. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Draft @ Flossmoor, pre-DLD fest. Pours a murky, ruby amber color; thin off-white head with patchy lacing. Solid amounts of overripe red fruits and funky strawberries in the aroma; lacking a bit of density, but still funky, slightly tart and tasty. Medium mouthfeel: slightly tart, chewy cherry character; touches of oak, vanilla, overripe red fruits; not incredibly dense, but tasty and very drinkable. Medium finish: red fruit juice, touch of tartness and funk, some toasted grains and sugar. Cornfield (4975), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 28, 2008 I like the Frambozen version better (although I normally prefer Krieks), but this is yet another dandy from Matt & Andrew. It poured a hazy brownish-red with just small amounts of both head and lace. It had a fresh, tart dark cherry aroma, mildly funky, with a touch of oak and some earthy hops. A bit of cherry pit bitterness and a light fruity sourness are added to the flavor of this smooth & soothing ale. The finish is dry and fruity. Quite nice.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2008 Tap at the pre-DLD party at Flossmoor, thanks Matt and Andrew for this:
Hazy red hue with a small head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of tart cherry, slight lacto funk, oak, herbal hop, and dusty yeast esters. The taste has a nice balance of fruit and biscuity malt with a dry oak finish. A touch of wild yeast notes adds to the depth of palate. The mouth feel is slightly chewy, dry and a tad chalky. Overall it was a very drinkable brew, Mikey Likey!
