This beer poured a deep, dark brown with a thin head of tan foam that quickly settled into a lasting ring. A small amount of lace coated the inside of the glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of mild bittersweet chocolate, dark fruits, and a touch of earthy yeast esthers. The flavor included a smooth roasted note, dark fruits, chocolate, and a hint of alcohol warmth at the finish. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with mild carbonation. A nicely crafted Baltic porter. Pour is mahogany and suprisingly still had a good head after almost a week in the growler. Aroma is bigtime chocolate and roasty malts. Flavor follows through with big, roasty chocolate and fruity sweetness. Palate is just a tad thin, but this is very tasty. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2008 Pours dark brown and slightly reddish. Smell is chocolatey roastiness. Taste is mild roasty and nicely hoppy. Dark, dry chalky flavor too. Pretty decent roast flavor, but a tad thin again. Didn’t strike me as what I thought a baltic porter would be like, but certainly wasn’t bad. ogglethorp (890), Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 25, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with garnet highlights and a creamy mocha head that reduces to an oily surface. The nose is of dark roast, chocolate cake, dark fruit and a light ashiness. Full-bodied and oily with a roasted, lightly bitter finish. Dark roasted malt blends with notes of dark fruit and chocolate ending roasty and lightly dry. This is a tasty brew.
