CharlesDarwin (1413), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 31, 2008 22oz Bottle. Gold wax. Nice hoppy aroma. Complex spicy, juicy fresh citrus. Great full nose. Creamy, chewy great hop base. Pours a clouded orange-yellow with a rim of white silky. Flavor is a rich, bready complex citrus flavor. Very chewy and juicy. Lots of spicy, tropical fruit and alcohol. Salty. This is a great fresh IPA. Excellent. A top class IPA. It’s hard to pin down exactly what about this beer makes it so great, but the deft hop flavor extraction, soft smooth fruitiness of the hops and the integration with the base and the well hidden alcohol make this a fantastic version. Thanks Matt!
glkaiser (1002), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 3, 2008 Thanks, Bri! Hazy orange golden with medium head. Nice profile of floral hops and moderately sweet and syrupy malt. Very solid, and not too thick. Not refreshing, but light enough to feel like you could drink a bit of it. adrian910ss (1032), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 1, 2008 22 oz bomber courtesy of Todd. Pours a cloudy caramel with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, caramel and citrus. Taste dominated by citrus and floral hops with a presence of caramel. Big and Mighty. DougShoemaker (2614), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 30, 2008 Strong nose of orange and pine, cloudy orange, small tan head. Taste is a big hit of orange/pine, fully backed up by fine malt. Full bodied, very well balanced, great mouthfeel. Majestic! Thank You Torontoblue. maniac (2022), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bottle shared by WeeHeavySD after Stone on 08/03/2008 on day three of RBSG 2008. Cloudy dark orange body with a small off-white head. Big caramel and citrus and floral hops. Big citrus and floral hop flavor with some light caramel. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. grandridge (160), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA Sep 5, 2008 Had this one on tap at the brewery then I bought 4 bottles home with me. This is a suprisingly outstanding IPA. This one is the gold wax. Pours amber golden with a small head that dissapates fast. Aroma is sweet citrus, hops, and pine, sweet pine. Man I love my IPAs to have that piney aroma. Flavor doesn’t dissapoint, goes down like a monster double IPA but finished cleaner without heavy bitterness like a regular IPA. Very refreshing and perfect balance of hops where on hop is not too overpowering. Well done.
