BBB63 (3676), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 Tap at Flossmoor: Hazy deep amber hue with a small but lasting frothy head and left nice lace upon the pint glass. The aroma has notes of grapefruit, mango, herbal and piney hops, earthy yeast and some white pepper esters. The taste has a nice bitterness and acidity without overpowering. Biscuity malt and hop spice finish rounds into a tasty treat for the palate. The mouth feel is aggressive and biting with a dry finish. A really nice brew and glad to see it was bottled as well.
decaturstevo (1124), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jul 13, 2008 Nice orange pour with a tight off white lace and head. Peppery aroma with lots of citrus. Creamy and sweet with a very good finishing bitter. Light creamy full bodied beer. Very full powerfull ipa doubleo (652), San Diego, California, USA Jul 3, 2008 22oz bomber with gold wax. Pours cloudy, burnt orange color with a small, offwhite, creamy head, some lace. Smells citrusy, slightly nutty and slightly grassy. Tastes flavorful but not super bitter, grassy, some citrus, some nutty hop flavor as well. Medium body, smooth carbonation. riversideAK (1456), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bomber from BeerBunker. Thanks man! Pours orange gold with a thin head that lingered for a while. Aroma is citrus rinds. Grapefruit and orange predominantly. Nice and fruity aroma. The flavor has much of the same with great citrus effects of grapefruit, orange, tangerine. Some floral and piney hops make and appearance along with a bit of medium sweet caramel malt. Smooth and fruity. Nice hops, not overly bitter, but still very hoppy. Nice! iowaherkeye (1364), Back in Iowa City!, Iowa, USA Jun 28, 2008 22oz bomber, no date with gold wax and picked up at the Pre-DLD gathering. Clear medium gold with a 1/2 finger creamy off-white head, fadinig to a thick ring and thin film before long. Lots of grapefruit and orange rinds and resiny pine up front--almost a perfumey quality from the intense hops. Just a little bit of a caramel malt backbone, but I don’t really need a whole lot from that realm--it’s about the hops! Flavor is just as fruity with the addition of some grassy notes. Caramel does come on a bit stronger with a little bit of cotton candy notes. Bitterness peaked around a 6 in the dry finish. Full body with light prickly carbonation. An excellent DIPA! JCB (847), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 12, 2008 22oz from scubarex - thanks, Russ! Nice amber pour with a big creamy head. Very appealing, and the nose is quite rich too - slight bitterness but mostly an abundant floral aroma. That’s just my game in terms of DIPAs, a big San Diego style done by a fine Midwestern brewery. Very hefty malt center to this beer gives it a substantial quality, and a long smooth finish that suits the lively citrus just right. Slightly pungent note creeps into the taste, but overall quite good.
