Special treatment at the Ruby Brown Dunkel Mug Club tapping (Flossmoor, IL). Pours a hazy amber, lit up with some gold and orange, a moderate offwhite head that dies to a small layer, soapy, laces ok. Aromas are fresh hops, citrus, amarillo, lemon, grapefruit, gumball candy, a touch of rosemary towards the backend and faint pine. Initial is medium bodied, coats pretty well. A good bitterness, citrus and a bit smoothed, floral, rosemary is delicate, as pale and caramel malts come in. Not overly bitter, but a solid amount to balance. Bitter, faint pine mingles with the rosemary, a bit herb-y, good flavors, and a decent spin on the base. If you don’t know what rosemary is, you might not be able to distinguish, but I picked it out well enough. This beer also seems to have more of a finish than the base, but it a bit more muted hopwise. Interesting.
