Bottle. Aroma of some spicy rye, some citrus, hops. Flavor has hints of bright citrus with the rye along with bitter hops. Medium-bodied. Pretty solid rye presence, but not much going on in the way of the hops or other malt-driven notes. Least favorite Flossmoor IPA I’ve had.

Bottle thanks to FlssmrBrewAlum. Pours a semi-clear orange-brown with a small thick white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, spicy rye grains, and grassy hops. Flavor of earthy hops and spicy rye with a touch of citrus. Tasty IPA! 8/4/7/4/15 (3.8/5)

Bottle from Armanetti’s. Pours a copper with a nice sticky head. Nose is spicy and resiny with some earthy notes as well. A touch of apricot in the nose as well, maybe almonds? On taste, soft rye notes come through well against the hopping which is a bit sour and pepper with citrus and resin. A well constructed RyePA. Nice.

22 ounce bottle shared by CrellMoset. Thanks! Pours a slightly hazy amberish copper color with a thin wisp of sediment floating in the middle. Moderately large head with good head retention and lacing. Aroma is malty and nutty with peppery notes from the rye along with fruity hoppy notes featuring mango and other tropical notes. Taste is leafy hops, citrus, mango, rye and nuts. Very faint bubblegum notes as this has almost a faint Belgian vibe going on. Medium bodied.

Bottle from BeerBunker. Thanks! Rye malt, caramel, citrus, and floral notes in the nose. Pours hazy amber orange with a thin head and a little lace. Rye and caramel, lightly spicy from the rye, citrus hops, earth and pepper i the finish. Easy drinking, well balanced, not really bitter or resiny, but a nice use of the rye malt as a showcase.

Deep, orange amber pour with white head, lots of lacing. Earthy aroma of nice citrus, fruity hops, some sweet malt and rye! Really nicely balanced hop forward flavor with some nice malt notes. Beautiful rye in the finish.

22 oz. bottle. $9.50 at Sam’s this week. Don’t know if the wax is actually navy blue, but the bottle does show Brian Shimkos as brewmaster, so I’m sure this is this beer. Pours a darker brown than the average IPA, with a rocky, lacy head. Deep down smell of citrusy (Amarillo?) hops, plus a bit of malt syrup and rye spice. But no syrup in the taste, that’s for sure. This is not quite an imperial strength IPA, so the hops don’t have to fight with malts. Spicy character from rye in the malt, but also, I think, from some noble hops in the mix. Lot of caramel roast without overdone sweetness, which goes well. I was actually in the mood for a sticky hop bomb. This wasn’t one, but it makes a great impression by itself.
